Happy new year!! I know, I know it’s been like a week! I’ve been MIA for the last
few weeks though. I really wanted to focus on my family this holiday season. I feel like I missed so much in 2014 due to work and school. Oh and I’m sure I mentioned this in my last post but I was so bummed I hardly felt excited BUT speaking of school…….
I GRADUATED!!! WHOO HOO!!!
I now have a degree in nutrition as a Dietetic Technician, Registered. If you’re not sure what that is, you can check out more information
here. The short explanation: I have an associates degree in nutrition and I’m registered with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as nutrition professional. I plan on going back for my Bachelors and becoming an RD eventually. I’m still working out those details.
I don’t have any graduation pictures however, a bit of a bummer. My school hosts one graduation ceremony per year and it’s not until May 2015. How does that work anyway?! Oh well, I’m just glad to be done with everything! I’m still contemplating if I want to attend the ceremony in May or not. I’m a symbolic person so in a lot of ways I think I need it as some sort of closure. Receiving my diploma may be enough. I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
So what else do I need to update you guys on? Oh! We got our dog back!! In my last post I mentioned that she was stolen, that was almost a month ago and it’s taken all this time to get her back home to us. It took me filing a police report, a search and seizure warrant as well as an arrest warrant for the “dog napper” but Coco is home safe. As for the dog napper, well, they went to
jail. I’d like to take this opportunity to remind all you pet owners to microchip your pets, keep all vet records on file and safe, and register your pet with your local animal services agency. All of these things played an essential role in getting our Coco home.

Coco was returned to us on New Years Eve, what a wonderful way to ring in the new year! The Mr. and I were kid free for the night so we headed out with the FamBam to ring in the new year. I never get out these days so I was excited to get all dolled up and be seen by people I wasn’t related to or working with.

As for marathon training, I’m still working my way there. Half @ssed. Honestly, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I just don’t have time to train for this marathon BUT I’m not giving up! Now that I’m not working 12 hour shifts I can fit training runs in before or after work. I’ve also started to train more in the early morning hours, which has NOT been an easy change. I’m not a morning person but I’ve successfully managed to slowly become one. As the 2015 triathlon training creeps closer I’m driven even more to do the early morning workouts. The pool at the gym is less crowded, if I want to bike indoors or at home I can avoid the cold and the traffic, and the gym is generally less packed as well. I’ve only got about a month and a half before the Cowtown marathon, as it gets closer I realize that this journey has re-awakened my love for running and solidified my belief that I NEED this sport. I also feel like crossing that finish line will be the beginning of a beautiful race year.
Happy Running!
