Virtual Coffee Date - Meal Plans & 70.3 Training

Well good morning beautiful fit fam! I hope you’re all recovered from an awesome weekend and are feeling empowered to crush this week! I woke up today feeling refreshed and FULL of energy. I’m not sure why, I had a 3 hour training ride yesterday and my legs are feeling pretty tired today, but I’m getting used to that. 

Anyway, it’s been awhile since I’ve had the chance to check in with you guys and I thought it was about time for another Virtual Coffee Date!

Today, I’m sipping on a new hazelnut brew with my ever favorite vanilla coffee mate creamer. Today’s cup of joe tastes more like coffee flavored sugar water than coffee, but I’m just fine with that! Whatever gets the engines going, is what I like!

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that my kiddos started school this morning. We have one going into his SENIOR YEAR!  I cannot believe it! We also have one going into eighth grade, her last year of middle school. I just cannot believe my kids are so grown. I feel like it was just last year that we were playing with barbie dolls and action figures. Now, this year, we’ll be filling out college applications. There is never enough time with your children. They never stay little long enough!

If we were having coffee today, I’d also tell you all about the new meal plans that are about to launch here at Askew Nutrition & Fitness. I’ve been working so incredibly hard to offer something awesome to my clients. I mentioned in my last virtual coffee date that I would have some free downloads for you this month, but I’ve got a lot more than that coming and it’s taken a bit longer to coordinate. If we were having coffee today, I’d also tell you that my training for Ironman Waco 70.3 is going so well. I’m really proud of myself this time around. In almost every big triathlon that I have trained for to date, my only goal was just to finish. I had no idea what I was doing when I trained for Austin 70.3 and then during Texas 140.6 I suffered such a huge blow after tearing my ACL. There was really no room for me to do anything other than survive training. 

This year, my body is rested, healed (as much as it can be) and I came into this training cycle ready to kick some serious booty. For the first time, I took on a more aggressive training program and really just committed to doing my absolute best. I know I won’t be winning any podium spots, but I am aiming for PR for the first time ever and that makes me feel awesome….and motivated! I feel so refreshed this time around and I think it’s exactly what I needed.

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I’m using my new found motivation as a multi-tasking tool as well! I knew if I was going to be more aggressive this training season that I also needed to find new ways of cross-training to keep things lively and to really push myself. With that in mind, I decided to do the 100k cycling course at the Emmit Smith Gran Fondo and then the 100k course at the Gear Up to End Hunger bike ride a couple of weeks later. To make things even better, I’ve decided to host a meet-up at both events in honor of Women for Tri! I cannot wait to meet everyone out on the course and get to know more of the cyclists and triathletes in my area. Meet-ups are such a great way to create positivity around an event. It can be really intimidating to show up and feel alone. Even for me! I’ll have FB events up sometime this week so that everyone can RSVP. We’ll have some awesome giveaways and a few freebies thanks to Nuun Hydration.
